My First Blog Post

Hello world! I never actually figured out how to write my 1st blog post….so here i will ask you to foward to today’ s (mon.aug.19,2019) blog post about using photos and photo art as a bridge building language.

    • Once again ty…yes…because i wanted to comment on your blogs and like…my blog came about….its hard cause i do get soooo sidetracked….i dont think i even got back to commenting and liking your photos & blogs…sorry bout that…i will tho…i love your work! And a quick comment as to y the other insta photo get all those likes and not yours yet…they sell out or they apply to the more common taste….even if its only a very subtle difference that is sooo hard to dectect, as is the case….dont forget, everyone, each know and recognize those cut from the same cloth they were cut from, and they are not mature enough to step out of the box, to broaden thier horizions…nor do they want to( if they r aware), because that is were thier egos r fed etc.and that is enough for them…they r not TRUE artists!!! I this is a subject deeper than the ocean, so i wont go on anymore, in this confined time&space…. But u keep ur dream right there in front of u…leading u…and your ideals in place..right were they r.. U will be joyous in the end result Steve.I should give u the email\ website of a artist\ photo friend from queens, nyc….he can speak a few words of wisdom on this subject…he is a TRUE artist genious…(an in person, hanging ut every weekend …on the phone all week friends back in early 90’s when i still lived in nyc… So i can truly recommend his friendship and wisdom)

      • There some truth in what you say , also another thing is , Instagram isn’t really a photographer website , it’s just a social media place . I find real photography at flicker / 500px / and somewhat EyeEm . Instagram to me is just a place to find “models / dancers “ nothing more at this point . I guess , if I could become an influencer though , I could command more $$ for shoots .

      • U would be better off first going to whatever rock and roll clubs( CBGB’ S) still exist in all the bouroughs…all the up and coming struggling rockers, punk rockers, grunge etc…and see them play…but more importantly…go to the bars they go to nightly…used to be Spiral on Houston& A and Alcatraz on 8th( st.marc’ s) & A…. Among others…there u can actually hang out and speak to the singers\ dancer\ artists….i know u want to only photograph dancers…but i know from life experience, most every rock singer chick has taken ballet at some point and can easily do an amazing photo shoot with u…

      • It’s not a bad idea , I’ve considered going to see and shoot concerts like that , in small clubs . Honestly I like anyone who pays . I just refuse to do “models” in a collab shoot which means no one pays . Dancers are dancers it’s their work / passion . These models don’t know the 1st thing about modeling and just want Instagram photos or to be instafamous .

      • Yes..true about models…..kr wannabes…or just pretty faces….but in my experience…most up and coming band members have done enough ballet to do basics in pointe shoes..even flamenco…salsa etc….they would have to understand it as…not some part of thier past dancing…but as one of thier current newly re- discovered expressions of thier current lives…even experience what they would do dancing\ moving\ posing in ballet style but to theier current music….that is something i now wish i had a chance to have done because i can guarantee u that it will greatly expand and enhance the rock and roll performances….just tbe fact of experiencing ones own music ( rock and roll etc)in light of another style and medium( ballet etc) that one is already familiar with is exciting if those avenues r not already being searched…usually for lack of time, reason….etc

      • So are you a musician or something ? I wouldn’t think ballet and rock n roll are all that tied together . A band playing at cbgb probably wouldn’t have ballerinas hanging around . My goal at the moment is to just get involved with a dance studio .

      • U could say jack of all trades..yes….actually yes hangng at places.. Coffeehouse\ diners by lincoln center…and places by each broadway theatre…that would be places to meet..also dont forget..stagedoors …when i wss in theatre we used to go eat with who ever wss feeding…same with my friends that danced at the lincoln center…i do know one up and coming ballerina at nyc ballet….i can try to find out ..all u need is 1 person..which opens the doors…ever see\ read ” 6 degrees of separation by john guare( i misspelled) but do if u havent…. It is a handbook u need

      • Get the video..stockarrd channing, will smith, john malcovich….6 degrees of separation by John Guare…original bway cast..most of it is in video…it plays on tv sometimes…truly a most genious secret cult piece.. With truths as solid as some look at bible!!!! Seriously that mind\ life changing…especially with the crossroads u r currently at , at this point and time..in your carrer of ypur passion.. And the crossroads in your soul…tho u may not see it..or agree…etc…plz do take that seriously for it is the case….u will find your places in the art world\ s and u will satisify that for which u r searvhing in all this….but always remember …both thankfully and regretfully…all the arts come with and thru pain …pain from\ of all angles….!!! Just keepembracing it all as u r already doing….got to keep jumping in more blindly and deeper…just when u want to ( or feel yourself ) get( ting) all logical!! Remember..stick with that fire in your soul ..the one thst led u on this whole journey to begin with….otherwise …more than likely…i would figure u would still be in whatever business were before running out into the great wide open of being an artist\ photographer

      • I don’t think I’ll ever go back to that kind of work , 9-5 blah blah .. life is good even if it looks bad .. I’m happy , that job paid very well but I was miserable. I prefer just to be happy over money ..

      • Then u can charge big $$$… Cause everyone is half famous already in band world but the egos tbey gave r down to earth…i know what i said makes no sense…almost…i need to elaborate..but not right place..(and they have huge followings)but do try it…i will find out which bars r the new daily spots….my friend that i was telling u about does lots of musicians shoots cause they sought him out cause of his painting style….and influence has gone both ways over the yrs as the arts should

      • I used to live in nj as try to get to nyc…but it was only to hang…but u have a real purpose….the truth….we r getting older…..that stupid rational thinking starts rearing its ugly head….but u do need to think as tho this is u starting this photo career..back at career starting age..min ur teens\ twenties!!! Its time to act impulsivly sometimes.. Seeeing as u already have by stsrting this photo career to start with!!!! Not time to be rational and comfortable and logical…u do need to fight that….something serious led u this far…and what a crazy idea to start with some would say….but mot u..and look how far u have gotten….dont get out of the puddles….keep splashing around till u find the whole ocean!!

Thank you for being the 1st person…aside from myself, to read\ look at my blog.it only came to be because wordpress asked for a sign in before i could ” like” your blog….gotta still figure out a whole lot….like how to put up gallery…or even…how to put my photo in place of wordpress photo on home page.I am sticking with the free blog options rn.

      • Your welcome and thank you for taking the time to come across my site . I honestly don’t remember how to add my photo into profile , maybe it’s on the computer I did it . When you look at some of the things here it can become overwhelming. I think I had a site for about a year before I finally started doing something with it . Basically only started this to become a NYC press photographer. I needed to have certain types of photos published , and this is considered published in the NYPD eyes .

      • Ty..actually..not the profile photo, but the 1st featured one…i will figure it out..i had it…but forgot to save it😂😂….so wordpress is considered published with NYPD?? Interesting! I guess i’ m published now…in recent days( i had poetry publushed yrs ago in new yorker mag and colombia u. Publucations…and bunches of stuff…but as old saying goes…u r what u have done today…not yrs ago…if i had a resume put together from yrs ago…even i might be impressed!! But in old days…stufff seemed \ was more real cause it was in person…i still have issues with technology, and what it means philosophically and every other which way too!!!

      • Yea , it’s published in their eyes , but they are only looking for certain types of photos . The parades I cover count . Anything that’s police involved or NYFD . But the pass gets me inside as far as CNN and things like that in on the scene moments . So I cover the parades which is easy , then you need to put it all together and get interviewed by nypd . I also sell photos at shutterstock and Getty Images, so if I ever find out whose buying those photos I could track down the publishing of those . I have came across some . About 5-10 I’ve tracked down . But sold over 100 😂 but yes this technology is becoming to much .. just need to figure out how to use it my advantage 😂

      • Wouldnt all the sales be sent to u thru companies that sold them….or even on some copyright site…i would have to find out cause i havent sold a single photo out of 50 on market on eyeem…!!! Guess there is too much competition which is better…so i cant really say anything…beauty in eyes of beholder…and luck plays a part…as does ” Brand” ….

      • I just get info that it sold .. and can see where in the world . But that’s it . If I search my name , I do find some of the magazines or news articles that have used my photos . I’ve sold a few on EyeEm maybe 5 . But I’ve been there since basically the beginning. I’ve seen people there who are making 1000’s … I don’t get it . I know mine don’t sell when I post model photos because I don’t use the model release. Truth is you never know what someone will need and when . You can take a photo of a nail in the wall and someone may need it for advertising or something . We are all just getting put into a big pool of stock photos . So it’s important to try to use hashtags.

      • I was under impression that whenever anytime any of your photos are used…it has to be reprted to u, the artist, by company thst sells…i was just reading all the legal sh.. for ” deviant art” app…and im pretty sure its the same for all( eyeem, getty, istock etc) but i wont bet on it..mi would have to check each…or check with each company…maybe they dont bother unless u ask for particulars??!!???

      • I don’t know .. but , yes I would think they would give more info , but I guess when you give them the photos your party giving up your rights . When you sell on EyeEm you just get a PayPal payment that says from EyeEm . A

      • And technically, anyone can buy photos from stock sites . Just me as a normal person can buy photos and maybe I just print it out as a poster or something .

      • I also do some video journalism. I get messages when there is a story within 20 miles of my phone and they will usually pay 35-100$ for 5 second videos , so if your ever interested in that let me know and I’ll give you more info

      • Do check out 6 degrees of separation….everyone in this whole world is right in your very own personal address book….and only by happenstance of the right combo of the right 6 people!!! It realky has proved itsf out to me since the play was very 1st on bway with john malcovich( an old friend)( and a young unheard of boy …prince of belair…will smith himself…little did i know then who he would be today for example) and i didnt even know john was in the play..was only there for fact that writter was my fathers friend….if ustart having thst excitrd awe and excpect these crazy ” unexpected” things…everyday will be full of them…that is a fact!!

      • I just finished photos from Tuesday shoot .. was supposed to shoot tomorrow also but , it’s just gonna be to hot . So we postponed. So now that it’s 2:30 sleep is about my only option at this point . The Hulu just clicked off because it didn’t know if I was still watching..
